YOKE

During the interval of a night of performances, I re-painted one of the white rods in the venue’s staircase with white paint. The interval is virtual, intangible, yet it has substance: it is palpable. The substance of the interval is its capacity to retain qualities even after is frozen within an actual occasion. This quality of movement is not: It Acts.
As pure, duration the interval invents a stop in linear time, preserving the future into the present. The time slip of the interval is the future anterior: that which will not yet have happened. The interval never marks a passage: it creates the potential for a passage that will have come to be. The focus of this piece is on how we sense on top of senses, one sensed experience always embedded in another. There is nowhere to go but in.
